Garrett Eanes

A tenth grader at Arlington High School looking for a place that makes him feel included and apart of something. This is Garrett Eanes first year doing Sports Media production as well as Digital Media. “It all started last year when I first did a livestream event, I was instantly drawn into the concept of Sports Media.” For Garrett live-streaming gave him something to do, something that he would end up being incredible at in fact. He enjoys watching sports, and creating films so for him it was really written in the stars, he needed to take this class.

Not only does he film sports, he plays sports as well. Garrett will be playing football next season. He used to play a few years back, it was a way for him to develop leadership skills, and meet new people. “Football, defiantly football, its the best sport to watch and I actually know whats going on.” He knows about other sports but football is what he grew up with, it has the most meaning to him.

Garrett’s biggest role in sports media is producing. “I like to produce the livestreams, you get to talk to people, check the schedule, make sure everyone has their documents, and help people stay on task.”  To be a good producer he needs to make sure people are on task, getting stuff done, and where they need to be at the right time. He values keeping people in check and making sure everything runs smoothly. One role that just wasn’t for him was replay, kicked him in the butt. It was the middle of a baseball game last year when he was suddenly thrown onto replay without having any previous experience. “It was awful I just had no idea what I was doing, but this year we have lessons on how to do it and i would say I’ve gotten pretty good at it.” He still doesn’t enjoy it but he at least knows how it works. Even though Garrett is only in tenth grade he has already started looking at careers in the Sports Media industry. The only thing stopping him from going into that industry is the Army. “It’s really just about job security for me digital media can be unpredictable sometimes.” Sports Media is something that Garrett truly enjoys it’s not just another class for him. “

Garrett says the most influential person in his life is his dad. People used to say that he would grow up to be just like him and well that’s what he’s working for. He wants to be just like his dad starting out humble and flourishing into a successful man.
