On Sunday, February 9th, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Philadelphia Eagles played the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.
This game is known as the “NFL Championship Game,” and shows the world who the best team in the league is. This is the 59th year of the Super Bowl, and the game has rarely ever been held in the same city twice.
After four long fought quarters, the Philadelphia Eagles came out with the win.
Before the game started, in the Caesars Superdome, family members, friends, and public servants gathered together on the field to mourn the victims of the New Orleans terrorist attack that occurred on New Years Day.
The announcers also mentioned the victims of both plane crashes that have happened recently, the wildfire victims in California, and the victims of the flooding in North Carolina. Starting off the game like this showed a sense of unity between everyone in the United States.
If the Kansas City Chiefs had won this game, they would have made history. After winning the Super Bowl in 2023 and 2024, winning this year would have secured their team a “three-peat.” After all, the Eagles made a comeback this year winning the game 40 to 22.
Because of how large the Super Bowl is, there were many famous people in attendance. The most famous attendee, the 45th and 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump was there to support both teams. Other famous people like Taylor Swift, Ice Spice, and Pete Davidson also attended the game.
At halftime, famous musician, Kendrick Lamar, performed. His performance was very intricate and had a mixed reaction for fans watching from home.
Arlington High School Junior, Peyton Smith, enjoyed the performance. She said “Kendrick Lamar was super fun to watch, and I thought his background dancers and backdrop were amazing.”
Overall, the Eagles finally got their second Super Bowl win in franchise history. While appearing in the Super Bowl fives times in the past 59 years, they have only been able to come home with a ring in 2018 and 2025.
The 59th Annual Super Bowl was well-fought from both sides, and each team made a huge accomplishment by making it to the game in the first place.
