Disney World has established a plan to renovate several rides throughout the four theme parks. This will provide new excitement and publicity for Disney and give tourists new ride options. Disney’s primary reason for these renovations is to keep the attractions fresh and relevant, update technology, and address potential safety concerns.

The first ride being renovated is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, located in Hollywood Studios. The ride will remain the same but the theme and storyline will be replaced with the Muppets. The ride will feature new music and Muppets-themed merchandise.

Carla Parham, Arlington High School teacher, is a huge Disney World fan and has attended several times. She explains how she finds the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster theme changing to Muppets weird and says the original Aerosmith theme is iconic.

Splash Mountain was located in Magic Kingdom and after almost four years, Disney announced it would reopen as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This new ride opened at Disney World on June 28, 2024.

Parham has recently gotten to ride the new Tiana’s Bayou and says she didn’t know any of the music but the ride itself was still very fun and pretty.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is another ride in Magic Kingdom being renovated and is currently closed, expected to reopen in 2026. This ride is being refurbished in order to modernize the attraction and give it a full refresh.

Parham really enjoys Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and says how she can’t wait for it to reopen. When asked her favorite part of the ride, she says, “I love how when it spins you slam into the person next to you.”

All of these exciting changes will bring new fun and attraction to the parks of Disney World.
