The Arlington High School JV and Varsity cheer teams have officially began their new season for the 2025-2026 school year.
After receiving results for which team they made, the athletes were given a practice schedule. A parent meeting was also held on Monday, April 14th.
They have started practicing twice a week and will continue this through the end of the summer.
These beginning-of-the-season practices will consist mostly of conditioning to get into shape for competition season. This conditioning will range from running, to working out, to practicing their tumbling skills.
Rising senior cheerleader, Sophie Calame, explains how she believes that the extensive conditioning they’ve done will set the team up for more success in the long run.
Calame states, “I’m glad we’re working harder this season.” She’s also excited to see what is in store for this season.
The team has worked on stunting skills some but has not made it a main priority in their practices so far. The new members of the team who have not cheered prior to this year will have to work harder to match the skill level of the veteran cheerleaders.
There will be lots to look forward to for this season of cheer, and the cheerleaders are working hard to build up to a strong season ahead.
