This year Arlington Tigers has a new soccer coach, Stacie Owers. She is a Special-Ed teacher here at AHS.
She states that “At the start of the season was hard due to limited activities we couldn’t do on the field, we weren’t even able to scrimmage. We could only do individual touches and passing of the ball.”
I asked what something special about this team was and she replied “ This team is very special! All the players are willing to work hard and have an open mind to learn. There is a spark with the team and the new coaching staff. The girls are excited about the new facility as well, this is special for them moving forward to have a place of their own on campus!“
Stacie Owers explained her first year coaching as “ successful on the field and in the classroom. It is nice to come in first year and be successful with the girls! It is great to create a program with new staff and new facilities. We want to compete against the best teams. What we are trying to create is a completive environment where athletes want to come and play for AHS”
One of the best games we played this year was against Jackson prep, the coach said “We were 1-0 up at half time. Jackson Prep got it to 1-1. Then, Jackson Prep scored against from a penalty to go 2-1 with 5 minutes left of the game!
Last kick of the game, we had a penalty down the other end, and we scored with the last kick of the game to leave the score as 0-0.”
Overall Stacie Owers is great for the lady tigers soccer team and as a teacher here at the school.
