The graduating class of 2021 has had it rough. To say this would be most of their dream years would be absurd. But, these brave seniors have pushed through. For this Senior Spotlight, I interviewed Colby Dodd, a senior nearing graduation, where after grad, will be off to the University of Memphis. When asked about his experience at AHS amidst a global pandemic, he stated: “It has been a lot easier, I’d have to say it also is helpful in a way because being at home everyday along with not having a block schedule really helps me get done with all of my work and focus on it when I need to.” When asked about his favorite memories of his years at AHS, he responded: “My favorite memory would have to be anything before having to deal with all of this COVID stuff.” This feeling sums up how a majority of students feel about COVID-19. Finally, when asked about what he is to do after high school, he said: “After high school I hope to pursue a career in law and continue to run track.” Colby Dodd is a prime example of a student who is pushing through the challenges that comes with the global pandemic, and is working for that oh so bright future that lays ahead of him.
