What made you get into teaching?
“I honestly prayed about it for many years while I was in college and felt the Lord calling me to be a teacher. My father was a teacher and it was the one thing that I always said I wouldn’t do, mostly because the money is not the best. However, I felt an overwhelming moving in my spirit to be involved in the lives of youths and to teach.”
What’s the most rewarding part of teaching?
“The most rewarding part of teaching is never having to come to the realization that I wake up everyday and go to work just to make money so that I can wake up again the next day to make more money, until one day, my days are over. Teaching gives you real purpose, and motivation for going to work each day and doing your very best. I know, even when days are bad at work or when days are great, I am doing my best to make a difference in my community and in the lives of my students.”
What’s your favorite memory you’ve had while teaching?
“My favorite memory that I have had while teaching is without a doubt Arlington graduation in 2021. It was my first year seeing students graduate that I had taught when they were 8th graders at Arlington Middle, then again as 10th graders at Arlington High and as seniors at Arlington High. It was a bitter sweet moment, because I had such strong relationships with so many of them, but I was also so sad to see them go off to college.”
