Mikayla Starks, Journalist

Shannon Starks never thought she would find a job so fulfilling. She works in the main office at Arlington Middle School. She says, “The front office is the busiest place in the school.” Nonetheless, the office is the place that is filled with the most laughter and the most fun. Mrs. Starks couldn’t imagine herself anywhere else.

Mrs. Starks’s takes phone calls, interactes with parents and children, and handles medicine in her day-to-day workload. Though her days seem long and busy, Mrs. Starks enjoys the chaos because it makes for a fast day. She has always loved working in an office setting, so she equally loves being at Arlington Middle School too. Mrs. Starks states, “I am very gifted in areas that balance with the environment of the office.” She impacts AMS with the many skills she has obtained from previous working experiences.

Her coworker, Mrs. Tillman, is always making her laugh. There is definitely never a dull moment in the office. Since the office, again, is the most busiest place in the school, everyone likes to keep it nice and light. The office staff always celebrates each other for birthdays and even small occasions. Mrs. Starks says, “If someone falls or trips, we laugh but we also always ask if they are okay. We take care of each other here.”

Mrs. Starks is the first face people see when you first walk in the office. In saying that, she is prepared to help the visitor with anything they need. Mrs. Starks is very attentive and detail-oriented, which makes for an excellent worker in the office. If you visit Arlington Middle School, make sure to tell Mrs. Starks that she is amazing and you appreciate her for all that she does for her school!
