Fayette Shelby County line causes confusion in Arlington residents

Mike Wissman, Mayor of Arlington has big plans for Arlington’s future. “My plans for Arlington are to make it more expanded for future residents.” He talks about how Arlington is starting to draw more people in by building more attractions., business, and food and retail establishments. Mayor Wissman notes both the town hall and library are too small for the expansion. He recently announced plans on having both of those buildings expanded in a new development on Airline Road.

First of all, there is a big problem with our county line. A newer neighborhood just by the town square is considered Arlington, but is behind the Fayette County line. A new bill was recently signed to fix this problem. “It was a mess,” he says. There has been a lot put into this project.

Many parents are stressing their anger since they’re sending their kids to Arlington schools when technically, they aren’t considered to be living in Arlington. “As I know many parents stress their anger, even my backyard is considered Fayette county.” Even the Mayor himself has struggled with this issue.

Mayor Wissman hopes to expand Arlington from 15,000 people to 30,000. “Arlington is going to be growing, grandparents are going to want to come live with their kids and grandkids.” With all of these new projects happening and bills being signed, Arlington will continue to grow and bring more people. With all of these people, there needs to be more room.
