Kayla Menard is a Senior at Arlington High School playing her final tennis season ever. Kayla has been with the Arlington Tennis program for years. During her freshman year she made Varsity and has played ever since.
“My favorite thing about being on the Tennis Team is that I’ve gotten the opportunity to connect with a group of people that I normally wouldn’t have talked to during school.” -Kayla Menard
Kayla’s success hasn’t always come easy though.
This past summer Kayla was involved in a serious car accident tearing her quad tendon and breaking her wrist. She had to have surgery on her knee putting her months into recovery. With this comes many physical and mental challenges that are not easy to overcome.
“I went into the season not having any practice or any improvement I would say.” -Kayla Menard
However, all of this didn’t stop Kayla from coming back to play her Senior Tennis Season. Kayla worked hard for months to come back stronger than before. The hard fought battles built her character and taught Kayla many lessons that she uses in her tennis season now.
“She’s what I’d call a quiet leader, she leads by example. She just goes out and shows people this is how you do it and that’s really greatly appreciated. As much as any player I’ve ever coached I’m gonna miss her greatly.” -Coach Herring
The Arlington Tennis Team is in season right now and Kayla is a huge part of their success. Despite her injuries, she’s still a highly ranked player that’s a huge asset to the team. Come out and support Kayla and the tennis team as she leads them to victory in her last season ever.
