Annual college fair for all high school students hosted last week by AHS in the rotunda. In total, 74 post-secondary schools were in attendance. Along with the university schools, various trade school programs and military branches were also present.
The annual college fair is intended to give students the opportunity to ask questions and get familiar with various post-secondary opportunities.
Campbell Funk, a junior at AHS, says the college fair is helpful because it “give us a variety of places to look at.” She says her favorite table she visited was the UT Knoxville table. Campbell is undecided on which college she will attend, however, UT Knoxville is one of her three options.
Mrs. Bateman, a teacher at AHS, shared, “I think college fairs are beneficial… because students are exposed to all the different options they have. It makes college less scary if they can talk to people from there.”
Overall, the college fair is a great opportunity to get to know the options in the area. Students were encouraged to spend their time wisely while touring the college fair. The closest university to Arlington, The University of Memphis, is accepting scholarship applications now through December 1st . Additionally, the University of Knoxville is accepting applications now through December 15th.
