On Wednesday night, January 29th , many people lives were changed forever. An American Airlines jet carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided with an Army helicopter while landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington D.C.

The plane crashed into the frigid Potomac River. There is no for sure answer on what happened to cause this crash, but investigators are still on the hunt to find out. Investigators are saying that the plane and helicopter were both following standard flight patterns. Adding on, officials believe there are no survivors from this accident. The flight was coming from Wichita, Kansas. They have found 27 bodies from the plane and one from the helicopter.

The communities are so saddened by this tragic accident including Arlington, Tn. Campbell Funk, a senior at AHS, says, “This event is truly saddening. It doesn’t even feel real. I am so sad for all the families and friends of these victims. My heart goes out to everyone involved and the communities.”

Communities are wanting to do everything they can. The Wichita mayor says the city will hold a community prayer to unite everyone for these lost ones. Everyone is confused what happened and how it could happen. How a simple plane flight led to people’s worst nightmares. Live updates are being published every second, but as of right now, this is all officials know.
