Every year on the 14 of March, the Arlington Highschool math department comes together to celebrate Pi Day. Instead of a holiday getting students excited to leave school, they get excited to come to school. Here are this year’s Pi Day festivities.
-
Students regularly bring food for Pi Day. The majority bring circular treats for an easy project grade, accumulating a table of round food. The leftover sweet treats are donated to a nearby food kitchen for the less fortunate.
-
Some students opted for a more artistic approach, creating long link chains with the numbers of pi. These chains decorate the halls with bright colors in anticipation of Pi Day.
-
The math hallway is covered in vibrant, student-made pi-related decorations. Students painted posters of pi-parodies and photo-ops.
-
Students created pi-related photo props for the Pi Day photo station. These created fun pi photo opportunities for the students.
-
Mrs. Parham’s door is covered in circular flowers. Students created the flowers and glued them around her door for their project.
-
Mrs. Parham is particularly proud of her “Pi-thon”, a 3-d printed snake that has the numbers of pi on each segment of the snake’s body. Mrs. Parham says that she loves seeing how creative students get with their Pi Day projects.
