On Monday, March 24th, seniors at Arlington High School started their annual game of Senior Assassin. The game started off with 72 people and is now down to 26.
To play the game, all seniors participating downloaded an app called Splashin. The app gives each person a target. When you get your target out, the app matches you up with your target’s target. Your target is unable to get you out if you are wearing your goggles.
KyLynn McGuire is one of the few seniors left in the game. “The game is extremely frustrating but also exhilarating at the same time.” She explained how hard it is to get your target out while also not letting you know that you have them.
The game will go on until there is one person left. Each player put in $10, so the winner will end up receiving $720.
The first purge day was on Saturday, April 5th. On this day, everyone left in the game was able to get anyone they wanted to out. Goggles do not count on this day. Around 30 people got out of the game on this day, including Ella Parker. “I had my boyfriend’s prom that day and was expecting to get out. What I was not expecting was getting out at 6am.” Parker got out after showing up to someone else’s work attempting to get them out.
The game has caused lots of problems between friends and has been highly competitive. However, the senior class has been very forgiving towards the people that have gotten them out.
