Last Tuesday, April 15th, kicked off End Of Course Exams at AHS. End of Course Exams, or EOC’s, are two weeks long (4/15-4/25). These tests are State required exams to show where students are at after taking a certain class to ensure they meet state requirements. Certain classes have exams so how many exams each student takes is based off their classes. Seniors are the only grade that have no classes requiring an EOC.
During testing, the schedule is adjusted to allow several hours a day for the exams. If students are not taking an exam during this time, they remain in their 1st and 2nd period classes.
Between both students and teachers, there are various opinions on the adjusted schedule & EOC tests themselves.
Mrs. Bateman says “I think the EOC’s provide useful data but require too much testing with the benchmark tests too. It’s a lot on the students.”
Senior, Morgan Abeles, says, “ I think it’s a waste of time that we have to sit in a class for 3 & a half hours of the school day but at least I get to get my work done.”
Despite everyone’s opinions on EOC tests, they mean that the end of the school year is near. Seniors have just two short weeks left and everyone else has a month left. The end is near!!
