My growth through high school soccer

My growth through high school soccer

High School is a time for growth, learning from your mistakes, and finding out who you are. During this period, you will make mistakes, say the wrong thing, make the wrong decision, but at the end of it, you will learn and grow as a person.

From my freshman year to senior year, I have completely changed my perspective, morals, and outlook. The beginning of freshman year, I was nervous to go into highschool, but more nervous to start a new soccer team. Starting a new soccer team can be overwhelming already, but joining a high school team is more intimidating. This is because you are on a team with all ages. As a freshman, you are the youngest, although, this did not stop me from trying my best.

Around three weeks into preseason, two freshman got moved up to varsity and I was one of them. I was scared and injured, but overall, dedicated. I pushed myself at every practice, having the determination to become better and stronger as a player.

Each year after that, my mindset did not change. Sophomore year I was on the starting lineup in most games, until I was injured. This set me back and I had to deal with the consequences of falling behind others.

Going into junior year, I was still injured, but this time with my hip. Even though this was the case, I did not stop training. I wanted to become better and push through it, so that is what I did. I ended up healing and securing my starting spot on varsity.

As I was heading into my senior season, I was unsure of how it would go. I stopped playing club, so I was not playing soccer on my off time from high school. I was nervous this would affect me for my last season, but it did not. The challenges never went away, but I finally knew how to face them. I was becoming better everyday and ended the season with ending up in the commercial appeal, winning the best mid-season player, and scoring the most goals on our team.

From freshman to senior year, I grew, learned, and changed. I pushed to become the best I could and accomplished many goals. I never took anything for granted and took every opportunity I was given.
