One Mascot, One Identity: Arlington Schools Reveal Updated Tiger Logo

Arlington High School, Middle School, Elementary School and now an additional school in the district will all sport the updated Tiger mascot.

Donelson Elementary is officially retiring the bulldog and adopting the Tiger to match the rest of the Arlington Community Schools district.

The district set an aggressive goal for the rebrand, beginning the process in May with the aim of completing major elements by the fall. The new logo features an updated color scheme, including navy and a Georgia Tech–style gold.

In addition to the redesign, the district purchased a new Tiger costume that will be introduced at upcoming games and events.

Logan Smith, a sophomore at Arlington High school, said, “I think the logo will look better on merchandise and will improve the looks of the sportswear.”

“You want to look at a certain logo and think ‘Arlington Tigers,’” Superintendent Allison Clark said. “How can you do that if there are 20-plus logos out there?”

District leaders say the new branding is about more than appearance—it’s about unity and creating one consistent identity across all Arlington schools. They hope the new logo will be recognizable locally, regionally and even nationally.

“As a newer principal in my second year, I want to build pride and unity within the building,” AHS Principal Chris Davis said.

Sports teams and clubs are not required to use the new logo; however, Arlington basketball will debut it this winter, followed by baseball, softball and girls lacrosse this spring.
