Are you interested in something that saves lives? Microport orthopedics creates artificial bodyparts for people who are in need. Since it was National Manufacturing Day, Gary Giordano’s mechatronics class here at Arlington Highschool, along with the welding students, took a trip to Microport Orthopedics.
Students toured the factory and learned about their manufacturing process. They returned to Arlington with new knowledge about how to make artificial bodyparts. Jalen Barker, a Junior student that went on this field trip stated, “It was a great experience and it increased my interest for engineering.”
Jalen Barker explained how the employees manufactured these body parts right in front of them. He got a first hand account of different processes. “They had robots to do the harder jobs, like polishing different parts all at once,” says Jalen. He and other students that attended this trip plan to encourage people that aren’t college bound to look into more technical jobs in the manufacturing fields.
