McKenzie Monroe

Arlington Middle School

McKenzie Monroe is a new Art teacher for all grades at Arlington Middle School. Monroe’s husband got a new job in the area, and they moved to Arlington over the summer.

Monroe described being unsure about entering the education field. “I was an art major but I loved kids, because I worked with them at my church.”

She was positive about art, but not about teaching. She wanted to find a way to use art, so she entered the educational college and “I tried my first education class and fell in love with it.”

Mrs. Monroe has been teaching for five years. Her advice to future teachers is “Only teach if you have an emotional connection with your students, and you have to have a passion for it.”

She loves teaching older kids because she is used to high schoolers.

The connections made with the students are the best part for her by far.

The best part about teaching is the rewarding moments after you have encouraged your students
