Every teacher says they love kids and their students, but for Dana Simmons, it shows. Although she’s new to Donelson, she seems to fit right in. Mrs. Simmons teaches ILA (English) and Social Studies to her students at Donelson Elementary. Although she has taught many other grade levels in her fourteen years of teaching, she enjoys elementary the most.
It’s the A-HA moments when the kids finally get it and understand and are excited about it.

She was born to be a teacher, “Ive always loved kids, I babysat from a young age and growing up I always wanted to teach.”
Mrs. Simmons talks about her future dedication as a teacher, “I plan on teaching until I am unable to teach anymore.”
In her free time, Mrs. Simmons enjoys hanging out with her three kids, dog, and her husband at home. When she’s not at home, she’s either teaching or browsing through a farmers market. Mrs. Simmons and her husband are constantly surrounded by children, she teaches and he coaches high school basketball.
When asked how the year was going so far, Mrs. Simmons responded saying “it’s been a great year so far. There are lots of friendly people. The students and parents are great, and I have a great team that’s been helping me along the way.”
