AHS Junior finds reward in tutoring other students in Mathematics

When soon to be Arlington Junior Alaina Owen heard about Tiger tutoring teacher that Amy McKay was offering, she immediately jumped at the opportunity to tutor her peers.

Alaina has been at Arlington High School for 3 years, but was hesitant tutoring wouldn’t fit into her schedule, “I actually look forward to it now.”

Alaina is very involved here at Arlington High School, she is a part of Mu Alpha Theta, that Mathematics Honors Society. Being a part of this club enables her to tutor other students  and share her passion for excelling in math.

Alaina’s favorite part about tiger tutoring is offering help to her friends. She is best at is socializing with the other students, making them feel comfortable in an at-times stress-inducing environment. “I’m thankful that I’m able to help other students when they need it the most.”

Alaina has gained impactful experience and now is the person everyone goes to when they need help for Math. “I feel like I’m experienced because everyone comes to me when they need help.”

If you need tutoring help, please reach out to your EOC teacher to find available tutoring opportunities.
