Arlington cheerleader follows her dream of getting into BYU cheer program

College is right around the corner for our seniors. For the upcoming college freshman, getting into your top choice school and making it onto the sports team of your dreams is the most stress a senior can have. For one of our seniors, Jordan Soto, she was lucky enough to have done both.

Brigham Young University was her top choice for college. She is also a legacy due to her mother attending the university a few years back and being an alumni. Many members of Jordan’s church as well as her older sister also attend BYU. She was most interested in this university because of the community it provides and the excellent cheer program.

“There are a lot of people who are members of my church who go there and it’s also always interested me like the community of it and the way they teach” – Jordan Soto

Jordan Soto received the news she was accepted into the prestigious institution, Brigham Young University, in February of 2023  . Jordan recently tried out for the BYU cheer team and had an incredible experience.

“Cheer has been a really good experience for me and something that I’ve enjoyed for the 6 years I have done it, I’m super excited to cheer for my dream college and my dream school so I can’t wait to see what it leads me to next” – Jordan Soto

She has dedicated 6 years of her life to cheer and has always wanted to try out for college cheer. BYU held cheer tryouts April 14th through April 15th, 2023. Jordan was very nervous seeing all of the very talented competition while at tryouts. Determined to make the team, she kept her hopes and head up high to perform to the best of her ability.

After the long days of tryouts, Jordan was notified she had made the Brigham Young University cheer team! Jordan is thrilled that all her hard work had payed off. She is very excited for the upcoming cheer season and can’t wait to see what next year has in store for her!
