Attention Arlington juniors and seniors, prom is right around the corner. Do you know the dress code? Some of you might think it’s strict, but Danette Wright, the Arlington staff member in charge of prom, says the dress code is put in place for a reason.
“It’s prom, not the Grammys,” says Wright. “This is a lot of kids’ first experience in a formal setting.” We all just want to have fun at prom, who’s to say you can’t have fun and be formal at the same time?
On the other hand, maybe there needs to be less strict rules in some cases. “I feel like the prom dress code is more biased towards girls because we have a lot more rules for things we can’t control,” says Kamryn Crutcher, junior at Arlington High School. “I’d rather it be more lenient because sometimes it’s hard to find a dress with a specific body type,” she stated. “You’re hit with all these dress code rules, and it makes some people hesitant to even go because they’re uncomfortable.”
Wherever you stand in this matter, there’s no wrong answer. All that matters is that the students at Arlington High School have a fun night that they will never forget. In less than two weeks everyone attending will dance the night away. We’ll see you at 7:00 pm on April 27, Tigers!
