This week (April 7-11), AHS worked together to honor and show appreciation to students who have parents that are active duty in the Military. Arlington has a large community of Military families because of the Naval base near by in Millington.
To start off the week of celebration, students in Military families were invited to the library on Monday at 1:30 to enjoy cupcakes. On Tuesday, all students were encouraged to “Purple Up” and wear purple to show support for their peers who are military children. On Wednesday, to recognize the branches of military, students wore branch colors or logos. To finish off the week, Military families are invited to breakfast on Friday in the AHS Library from 7:15-8:00am. Donuts, fruit and coffee will be provided. This event is for both parents and students and is to recognize and show appreciation for their sacrifice and service.
KyLynn McGuire is a senior at AHS and her dad is recently retired from the Navy after serving for 23 years. She says, “I feel very recognized and appreciated that we celebrate military children here at AHS.”
AHS recognizes the Month of the Military Child each year in April to show support to their Military families.
