On Thursday April 24th, the Arlington Tigers Boy’s JV and Varsity teams go head to head in an exhibition match at Arlington High School.
This will be the first competitive match the Tigers have held at home. Tickets are coming in at $6, while students at Arlington get in free.
I got to talk with Senior Volleyball player Conner Clines about the upcoming exhibition, the team, and its future as well.
“It’s just good to play a game where we don’t have to travel. There’s not many teams in the state so playing a game like this where we play JV makes things a little bit more comfortable as a player. Plus we’ll get to have more family and friends come to watch us as well.”
The Boy’s Volleyball team so far this year has had to travel a distance multiple times in its first season due to the number of teams in the state.
“Obviously we would hope to not have to travel as much but when you don’t have as many teams in this state you got to do what you have to do in order to play. There has been discussion of other teams wanting to come travel here to play us though so that is something that we’d definitely be pumped for.”
Clines also mentions the growth of the sport, and the popularity it is starting to see.
“While there might not be that many teams as of now, the game is growing a lot so you could see a growth in the number of teams in this state very soon.”
The Tigers will also go up the road this Saturday, traveling to Nashville to take on MLK.
