Mrs. Brandy Black is a new 5th grade teacher at Arlington Elementary. She is from Atlanta Georgia and enjoys running and CrossFit. She has wanted to be a teacher since elementary school where she obtained motivation from teachers of her own, “I really admired my teachers and wanted to be like them” she says. Her first year of teaching was 1999-2000 where she began to teach 6 years after that and then take a break. As a result, this is her first time teaching in 15 years.
Although it has been a while since Mrs. Black last taught she still believes that teaching this year will be very rewarding, but has not forgotten the challenges that may accompany this year with everything going on. She says that the motivation behind this year is to positively impact as many students as possible.
Mrs. Black believes a good teacher is “Someone who loves his/her students enough to push them too do their best in an encouraging and inspiring way” “It’s a lot of work. It’s more like a calling than a profession. Teaching is something you have to be very passionate about because it’s not easy – but it is definitely worth it.”
