Staring a new job can be a scary but also fun and exciting time for everyone. This also goes for one of our new teachers here at Arlington, Jacqueline Daniel. Ms. Daniel is a new English 11 teacher with this being her first year teaching. She is very excited that she gets the opportunity to come back to school and get to know her students.
Jacquline went from very intense games of Uno and nannying for an eight and six- year old to becoming a high school teacher in the middle of a pandemic. When she is not in school Ms. Daniel loves to go hiking in the East Tennessean mountains, going to fun and exciting places and getting dinner with her friends, and going to take time to relax on the warm sandy beaches. Her love for the beach is so intense that she even stated that if she was a color in the crayon box she would be turquoise because because it reminds her of the beach. Thinking about future plans and traveling abroad are some of the many things that inspire her. She stated that her dream vacation was to go to Italy because she used to live there when she was younger and she really loves the food!
Ms. Daniel never intended to become a teacher when she first started attending the University of Memphis. Then one of her favorite professors encouraged her to become an teacher and now she can’t even imagine doing anything else. This goes along with her life motto, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” She explained that this motto helps motivate her to try new things even if that aren’t always successful. With this being Ms. Daniel’s first year teaching she has been set with a lot of obstacles that are going on this year, but she does not let that stop her from making learning literature a fun and exciting thing for her students to learn. Jaqueline enjoys all the funny and off-the-wall things her students say and how close the faculty is with each other and with their students.
One short message that Ms. Daniels would like to share with the students here at Arlington is to, “Be yourselves! Life is too short to worry about fitting in. The older you get, the more you’ll appreciate the various quirks and characteristics that make you stand out.”
