Arlington Halloween Horror House

For many families all across America, Halloween is a time to get dressed up and go get some candy or maybe even go to a Halloween party. With COVID-19 taking the world by storm, many traditions such as passing out candy on the spookiest night of the year wasn’t possible. For many this was the most devastating thing that could happen, but for others, like the Kelly family, they made the most of what they had.
Every year, AHS sophomore, Brenna Kelly and her parents turn their house into the most ultimate Halloween Horror House for the trick-or-treaters in their neighborhood. They transform their front yard into a graveyard filled with coffins with skeletons inside, scare crows, scary witches, skeleton chambers, and a banshee in the front window. Many of the things included in their yard are handmade including the gibbot, skeleton pit, witches cauldron, and the newest addition being their candy shoot. Brenna stated, “My mom carefully bagged up all the candy into Halloween bags so that way when the kids come up they can put their buckets underneath and we drop a bag down to them.” This process allows everyone to keep a safe distance and still take part in the same fun traditions that take place on Halloween.
Not only have the Kelly’s found a way to enjoy their family tradition that’s been going on for about 12 years now, but they also get to share their love for Halloween with their community all while being safe from this pandemic.
