New Beginnings for Coach Bussey and Arlington Football

Jonathon Bussey kicks off his career as a gym teacher and football coach at Arlington High School, while maintaining a healthy balance between his family and achieving his goals within his career.

Arlington has a great new addition to the faculty as well as the coaching staff. Coach Bussey is one of the newest additions to the Arlington Varsity Football coaching staff. He works with the Varsity Outside Linebackers and the kicking game. Head football coach, Tommy Miller, describes him as “passionate” and “energetic.” In the school day though, he spends his time teaching classes such as Rec. Games, Wellness, and Weightlifting. “I feel like it’s my calling in life,” Coach Bussey said. “Watching and helping the kids grow as a person and a student is great.”

Outside of his work, Coach Bussey is an active man who loves to be with his family. He is married to Jessica Bussey and describes her as his “best friend in the world.” They have been married just over a year and he says that she makes him better as a person. To balance his work and family he puts his phone down and is present with her. They like to play pickle ball together and love watching all sports. He describes her as his number one fan and always supports him. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without her,” Coach Bussey said.

The big moments for Coach Bussey are Friday nights at 7:00 pm. He prepares Saturday through Friday to put his players in the best possible position to face their opponent. He describes his preparation as “watching film, breaking it down, and practicing.” Him and the coaching staff work very hard all week to be ready to take on the other team. Coach Bussey is an eager-to-learn coach who will play a major role in making the football team successful. The best is yet to come with Coach Bussey’s future, and Arlington is lucky to have him.
