On Sunday evening, January 14th, snow began falling across the Mid-South; around five to six inches accumulated in Arlington, Tennessee.

ACS was out of school beginning Monday, January 15th, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and due to icy roads and winter weather conditions, didn’t return to school until the following Tuesday, January 23rd.

Morgan Abeles, a Junior at AHS, says “I was glad we got to have a long break, and I enjoyed the snow, but I am glad to be back at school with my friends.”

Abeles, alongside many other students, spent their snow week catching up on sleep and enjoying all the snow.

In addition to the snow, the Memphis area was under a water boil advisory because of the freezing temperatures causing pipes to freeze and water lines to break. ACS shut off water fountains and provided bottled water for students at school during the advisory. The advisory was issued on January 18th and remained in effect until Tuesday, January 23rd.
