Boy’s Volleyball tryouts take place Wednesday, January 29th at Arlington High School. This is the first time Arlington High School has ever had a Boy’s Volleyball team/club. There will be both a JV and Varsity level for the team. The open gym before the tryouts took place last Monday from 6PM-8PM and was a huge hit with over 50 attendees. However there will be limited spots on the team and all attendees are edging to get one of those spots this week. One of the attendees, Senior, Conner Clines, looks to make an impact in tryouts that will hopefully land him a spot on the team.
I got to talk with him about how he got into volleyball and how he’s been preparing for tryouts this week. “I was inspired to tryout for Volleyball just because of how fun it really is, I like playing it with my friends.”
“I’ve been preparing for it by practicing a lot and working on things that I need to improve my game. The main thing I’ve been working on recently is improving my passing and spiking.”
He also talked about how he felt going in mentally, expressing his confidence level of making the roster. “I will admit I am a little nervous about it considering there will be a lot of other people competing for a spot but I’m really just focusing on letting loose when I get in there and trusting in the practice in the practice that I’ve put in. But overall I’m fairly confident in my ability of making the team.”
