Arlington Varsity Tigers fell to St. Benedict at Auburndale 5-2 on Tuesday at St. Benedict at Auburndale.
St. Benedict at Auburndale got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after #1 grounded into a fielder’s choice, and #7 singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Juleann Roberts stepped in the circle first for AHS Tigers. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over five and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. #24 stepped in the circle first for SBA. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Emma Clements went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Lily Hatch, Clements, and Rory Caldwell each collected one hit for the AHS Tigers.
#21 set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading SBA with two hits in three at bats. #16, #7, #21, #24, and #1 each drove in one run for St. Benedict. SBA had a strong eye at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.
Sophomore, Gabby Brewer, says “Every year St. Benedict has been good competition for us, but this year I thought we had the win, but we fell short towards the end of the game.” AHS Tigers will travel to St. Benedict at Auburndale for their next game on Wednesday.
