Arlington High School Varsity Tigers Takes the Lead Late and Defeats Houston.

Arlington High School Varsity Tigers snatched the lead late in their 8-6 victory over Houston on Thursday. The game was tied as six in the top of the eighth when Hadley Edwards hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two points.

AHS Varsity Tigers got on the board in the first inning after McKenzie Walker singled, scoring one run.

Houston captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first after Kaylea Howell doubled to left field, and Ella McKnight flew into a double play, each scoring one run.

AHS Tigers took back the lead, 4-2, in the top of the second when Rory Caldwell homered to center field, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Houston tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a single by Skye Ebersole, and an error that almost costed the AHS Tigers the game.

Gabby Brewer earned the win for AHS Varsity Tigers. The righty allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out one and walking three. M McClure took the loss for Houston. The starter went eight innings, allowing eight runs and walking two. Brooklyn Knight collected the save.

AHS Varsity Tigers tallied 12 hits in the game. Caldwell, the number seven hitter for AHS, led the way with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Walker went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead AHS in hits. AHS turned one double play in the game.

This was a big win for AHS Tigers considering last time they played Houston at home and got beat by the Mustangs. This win started AHS Tigers a winning streak of three wins in a row. AHS short stop, McKenzie Walker, states that “Winning this game was big for us because this will put us in a good spot for the district tournament”.

AHS Varsity Tigers play at home on Friday against Millington Central in their next game.
