Spring Break is right around the corner and you know what that means. It means it’s time for students to start picking out their classes for next year. Last week Arlington High School hosted AHS Bound which is a time for students to visit potential future classes and get a sneak peek of what the classes have to offer. They have an opportunity to talk with Honors, Dual Enrollment, and AP teachers and pick up contracts for those classes.
Ms. Janet Pennington, a teacher at Arlington, says that the most important part of AHS Bound is “First, to ensure students are clear on the expectations and requirements of classes they are interested in taking, and second, to be able to reach more students”. On asking Ms. Pennington about why she encourages students to come to AHS Bound she says, “It gives students the ability to obtain the information needed to make an informed decision on their course selections”.
Overall, AHS bound was a success for students and teachers. Dinah Saunders, a junior at AHS says “I think since I went to AHS Bound it helped me understand what classes are offered, what they require, and will ultimately helped me pick my classes for next year”. Feedback from students, parents, teachers, and the overall turnout will be looked upon and worked into next year’s AHS Bound to make the course election process as easy as possible.
The online portal for course selection will open from February 18-22. If you have any questions, get in contact with your grade level guidance counselor.
