John Morgan Fahey is a senior at Arlington High School. Recently, he was a National Merit Finalist. He’s in the top 2% in his class. Because he’s doing so well in school, Principal Duncan asked him, “I know you’re applying for an ROTC scholarship. The Army and National Guard is having a show at Shelby Farms and has given me two tickets. Would you like to go with me and ride in a Blackhawk helicopter?” John Morgan accepted the offer and went to Shelby Farms.

When he and Principal Duncan made it to Shelby Farms, they watched a thirty minute presentation about benefits about joining the National Guard. The pilot said, “Buckle up and we’re ready for take off.” ” The worst part was when the helicopter was starting. It was so loud.” They flew around the Memphis area. They flew for at least an hour.

“The coolest part of the whole experience was taking off and being on the helicopter. The view we had from above was awesome. I will never forget this experience. I will remember this forever.”
