Mrs. Cruea (Crew-ee) has wanted to be a teacher since she was in her early 20s. She has taught before, but this is her first year at Arlington. Mrs. Cruea teaches 8th grade science at Arlington Middle School. Mrs. Cruea has lived in Memphis for just a little over a year. She is a mother to three active boys and says that she can usually be found at some kind of practice in her free time. Mrs. Cruea, as well as other teachers are adjusting to the new ways of teaching in response to Covid-19. She says it has been hectic, crazy, but also amazing to be meeting new students. She would prefer to be in class, rather than being virtual, but she is confident in the ACS system.

There is no better moment than when a student’s eyes light up because they understand a concept in science.

— Stephanie Cruea

Mrs. Cruea loves teaching and is proud to be a tiger. She says she wanted to become a teacher from the time she was a middle school volleyball coach. She loved working with that age and wanted to peruse that in terms of teaching. Her favorite aspect of teaching is witnessing the moment when a student’s eyes light up because they understand a concept in science. Her least favorite aspect of teaching is grading papers! We asked Mrs. Cruea what her quote is that is getting her through the school year and she said, “Be strong, you never know who you are inspiring!”
