“Back in sophomore year, we were getting ready for our winter concert, placed in December, we have a rule that you have to attend the choir concerts. It’s a big test grade, and if you miss a concert for any reason, you have to do a makeup assignment. It’s like a PowerPoint and essays and it’s a whole lot of effort. Well, that day, I was not feeling well, I didn’t go to school, my stomach was hurting and by the time of the concert, I felt okay. But throughout the whole day, my stomach was hurting. I didn’t eat anything. I had zero food in my system. So we show up, and I am ready for the concert and I’m feeling a little dizzy and nauseous, but I’m said I’ll be fine. And we get up on stage, we only had three songs. We were halfway through the third song and I fainted right on stage. And I fell right behind the piano. And I was going to get up and the director told me that I had to keep sitting there till the song was over. So I did and then the song ended. And I got back up on the risers and smile and let everybody off stage back to our seats. There’s always this big song that all the choirs do together. But naturally, I sat down for that ending part and didn’t go up and sing with everyone. That’s my story.’’James D Curry
