AHS defender, Tyler Jones, commits to Hendrix for Lacrosse

Arlington Football LB and Lacrosse defender, Tyler Jones, revealed on Twitter that he was “Blessed to announce that I have committed to play lacrosse at Hendrix College! Excited for this great opportunity!”

Black and orange will stay in the family blood, as Jones’ mother graduated from Hendrix, and was the reason why Jones visited the school. He liked the school and so he mentioned to the admissions team that he wanted to play lacrosse.

The admissions team connected Jones with Head Coach Anthony Biondo and Jones said, “He was very welcoming and gave me a full tour of the athletic facilities and that made me love the school even more.”

Jones was even able to participate in an overnight visit where he was able to meet the players on the team, and he said that he liked them as well.

Receiving a scholarship offer was the deciding factor for Jones. “Ultimately, it’s just a great atmosphere for academics and athletics for me.”

AHS Lacrosse Head Coach Jarred Coleman said “I think it is great. It’s good to see players from our school interested in playing at the next level and working to elevate their game.”

Jones was a captain last season and helped the Tigers to a 10-5 record along with their first playoff win in program history and an appearance in the TSLA Club Division II semifinals. He played for No-Excuse Memphis Lacrosse over the summer.

Tyler Jones and the AHS Lacrosse Tigers will hit the field this coming spring.
